Nick Hoffman has successful #FALS weekend; Adds Circle City win

Nick Hoffman had a successful weekend at Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway during the 31st annual Prairie Dirt Classic weekend.

The North Carolina racer was pulling double duty in both the Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals division and the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Super Late Model ranks.

In his No. 2 Fox Shocks Modified he broke out the broom by winning his $500 qualifier on Friday night, and then on Saturday night he led every lap of the $5,000-To-Win feature to push his 2021-win tally to 30. He was followed across the finish line by Allen Weisser, Tyler Nicely, Bobby Stremme, and Kyle Stefens. Sixty-three Modified competitors took part in the weekend.

Meanwhile, Hoffman took the Scott Bloomquist Racing No. 0 into battle against a star-studded field of 74 WoO competitors. On Friday night, the field was divided into four prelim features based on their qualifying times. Qualifying 20th fastest in his group, Nick clawed from 10th to fifth in his $3,000-to-win qualifier, which left him one spot short of locking into the finale.

On Saturday evening, Hoffman charged from a front-row starting spot in his B-main to a victory, which earned him the 18th-starting spot for the 100-lap, $50,000-to-win finale. Nick ran in the Top 20 throughout much of the feature as he gained valuable track time before settling into a 22nd-place finish.

“It’s just really cool to win here,” Hoffman said. “It really shows – this deal is 63 of the best guys in the country, as far as UMP Modifieds go, and to come out on top just shows how good our racecar is and how good of a season we’ve been having. This was the opportunity of a lifetime to drive that No. 0 car, so the No. 2 car here was kind of on a stand-still. Throughout the weekend, I probably spent 5-10 minutes on [the Modified]. I didn’t spend much time at all. I’m just grateful to have a lot of great people giving me some great opportunities, and I’m also thankful to be able to win in front of so many great fans.”

Nick rounded out the weekend on Sunday evening with his 31st win of the year which came at Circle City Raceway (Indianapolis, Ind.). Eighteen Renegades of Dirt Tour Modifieds entered the $2,000-to-win program, and after qualifying sixth fastest he locked into the dash.

A fourth-place finish in the dash positioned Hoffman fourth on the starting grid for the 25-lap finale. Nick was able to charge to the lead and the win in the feature. He was followed across the line by Tyler Nicely, Dylan Woodling, Cole Falloway, and Will Krup.
