Hoffman Scores Fifth Win of Season in Gopher 50 Prelim at Deer Creek
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (07/04/25) – While inclement weather canceled Saturday’s finale, Nick Hoffman made the most of his weekend by claiming his fifth win of the season in Friday’s Gopher 50 preliminary at Deer Creek Speedway.
The $12,000 triumph came in World of Outlaws Real American Beer Series competition and marked Hoffman’s fifth victory of the season aboard the Tye Twarog Racing / NOS Energy Drink No. 9 Super Late Model.
“You don’t want to win them this way, this is probably the worst way to win them,” Hoffman said. “Our race car was good, probably should have been a little more patient obviously. Bobby goes from sixth to third there right away, lined up beside him, felt like I got a good restart and just had to throw a pretty big bomb there. It can go both ways.”
Hoffman’s weekend began Thursday with the opening round of the originally scheduled three-day event. He qualified third in his group, followed by a runner-up finish in his heat and a sixth-place showing in the 30-lap feature.
On Friday, he returned to form with a heat race win and quickly asserted himself in the main event. Sliding into the lead on lap three, Hoffman controlled the final 27 circuits to take home the preliminary night victory.
Saturday’s NAPA Gopher State 50 finale was canceled due to inclement weather and will not be rescheduled.
