Nick Hoffman
Fourth-place finish in Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury Speedway
Nick Hoffman joined a stacked field of 65 Super Late Models at Fairbury Speedway on Wednesday as the FloRacing Night in America miniseries’ One for the Road event kicked off the 35th annual Prairie Dirt Classic weekend.
After coming up one spot short of a transfer in his heat race, Hoffman rebounded with a consolation race win to punch his ticket into the $20,000-to-win A-Main. He carried that momentum into the 50-lap feature, advancing six positions to finish 13th.
Returning to action on Friday as the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series brought 78 entries for the preliminary night, Hoffman struggled in time trials but found speed when it counted. Charging from mid-pack in his 25-lap prelim, he gained 10 spots to finish third, securing a locked-in starting position for Saturday’s $50,000-to-win Prairie Dirt Classic finale.
Inclement weather forced officials to push the 100-lap main event to early Sunday morning. Hoffman was running fifth following a lap-84 restart when a nine-car pileup unfolded in turns three and four. He managed to escape with minimal damage and rallied to finish fourth in the prestigious crown jewel event.
Hoffman remains second in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
