Hoffman third in Hawkeye 100 at Maquoketa Speedway

A four-race Midwest swing brought Nick Hoffman to Highland Speedway on Wednesday for the World of Outlaws Real American Beer Late Model Series-sanctioned Beat the Heat 40.

Hoffman opened the stretch with an eighth-place finish before carrying his momentum into Thursday’s stop at Spoon River Speedway. Rolling off from the seventh row, he charged forward 10 positions to claim a fourth-place finish.

Friday’s first leg of a scheduled doubleheader at Iowa’s Maquoketa Speedway was washed out by rain, but Hoffman returned on Saturday for the Hawkeye 100 finale. He set fast time with a 13.098-second lap, then won his heat to earn a prime starting spot. With $20,000 on the line, Hoffman came home third, joining race winner Bobby Pierce and runner-up Brian Shirley on the podium.

Hoffman currently sits second in the World of Outlaws Late Model Series standings.
