Hoffman finishes third in Illinois Speedweek stop at LaSalle Speedway
Nick Hoffman opened his Illinois Speedweek campaign on Tuesday with a strong showing at the revitalized LaSalle Speedway, where a stout field of 49 Super Late Models converged for the opening round, which also doubled as the FloRacing Night in America season opener.
Hoffman secured a spot in the $20,000-to-win A-Main with a runner-up finish in his heat race. Rolling off ninth in the 50-lap feature, he charged forward to a third-place finish, joining winner Bobby Pierce and runner-up Ricky Thornton Jr. on the podium.
Hoffman followed up with a pair of ninth-place finishes at Spoon River Speedway on Wednesday and Lincoln Speedway on Thursday as the Speedweek continued.
On Friday, the Mooresville, North Carolina driver returned to Farmer City Raceway for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Farmer City 74. His bid to make the main event came up just short, finishing fourth in the B-Main—one position shy of a transfer spot.
Capping the week at Fairbury Speedway’s FALS Spring Shootout on Saturday, Hoffman pulled double duty. He finished 15th in the Late Model feature, while mechanical issues cut his Modified run short on lap 13.
