Hoffman earns Dairyland Showdown prelim victory at Mississippi Thunder Speedway
Nick Hoffman and his team geared up for a four-race swing with the World of Outlaws Late Model Series as the series first made a stop at Independence (Iowa) Motor Speedway on Tuesday night before heading to Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wis.) for the three-day Dairyland Showdown.
Hoffman was fastest overall in qualifying, picked up a heat race win, and redrew the pole position for the $12,000-to-win showdown. Nick led the first six circuits before surrending the lead to Bobby Pierce. Nick settled for a third-place finish.
With two preliminary nights on tap, Hoffman ran fourth on night one and earned the $10,000 triumph on night one. He started fourth in the quick 30-lap feature and ran away with the lead just around halfway. Hoffman outdueled Ryan Gustin and Tyler Erb for his sixth victory of the young season.
Nick then put himself on the pole for the $40,000 finale on Saturday and finished just off the podium in fourth. He trailed Ryan Gustin, Bobby Pierce, and Jonathan Davenport while Daulton Wilson completed the Top-5.
Nick has the points lead with the World of Outlaws.
